The Moreton Bay Colleges’ new pre-prep precinct opening 2023

Early 2023 will mark the official opening of The Moreton Bay Colleges’ new, expanded pre-prep centre, featuring two additional new, purpose-built learning spaces.

Igniting their curiosity

Children are born ready to learn, brain development is heavily influenced by their environment. With about 90 percent of brain development occurring in the first five years of life, these early years are crucial.

For most, formal education doesn’t start until they are five, meaning that a large portion of their early neural development has happened before they reach the classroom.

Pre-Prep or Kindergarten is becoming more widely recognised as the first year of formal schooling. We see the difference in our students every day. The Moreton Bay Colleges’ Pre-Prep ignites their curiosity, unlocks their potential, and shapes their future learning.

Unlocking their potential

The Moreton Bay Colleges’ Pre-Prep has a child-centred approach to learning, with educators planning for and observing children, identifying opportunities to challenge and engage them in small groups and individually. Learning experiences are delivered through intentional teaching opportunities and hands-on, play-based experiences.

Your child’s strengths and interests will be the focus of educators’ observation. The educators then work with the child, families, and other specialist teachers to collaboratively plan for natural inquiry, providing resources and support where necessary so that your child is guided through their own wonderings and learning.

“The students seem to feel ‘at home’ so quickly and because the same children attend each day they become like a family.” – Mrs Rebecca Lennon, Head of Primary, Moreton Bay College.

Shaping their future

Joining The Moreton Bay Colleges in Pre-Prep is the start of an educational journey. The same children attend each day, so they see familiar faces and have a settled routine. The journey is also important for the families. Parents build connections with families who become lifelong friends as their children progress through their schooling years together. Belonging to a caring and respectful community builds confidence and trust for children and their families. Highly qualified teachers in state-of-the- art facilities will ignite your child’s passion for learning in this Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Programme. Students engage in a rich inquiry-based programme that encourages children to investigate and learn about the world around them.

Essential pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills are embedded within each and every day. Students enjoy access to specialist teachers in Music, PE, Visual Arts, Library and RE; and have the option to attend additional activities such as swimming and gymnastics.

The commencement of 2023 will mark the official opening of our expanded Pre-Prep Centre, featuring two additional new purpose-built learning spaces. The design also offers a purpose-built Atelier (art studio) and a kitchen garden space. The children will be able to explore, discover, create and engage with the world around them.
