What is The Lauries Journey?

The Lauries Journey is the journey that each boy takes at St Laurence’s College which helps him grow from a boy into a young man. He does not take this journey alone, but with the comforting support of his parents, friends and teachers.

The Lauries Journey ensures every boy feels known and valued for being the person that he is. It equips him with the knowledge, skills and qualities to develop his character, deepen his faith, widen his friendships and strengthen his self-belief in his own potential. It seeks to establish good relationships, because the best learning happens in the context of meaningful relationships.

St Laurence’s College has a long, proud tradition of Old Boys who still see themselves to be on their Lauries Journey because of the significance of the relationships they experienced at school.

“The Lauries Journey is ingrained in the culture of our school and it’s something we’re very proud of” Mr Leadbetter said.

“It’s part of our commitment to be an inclusive community that fosters respectful, compassionate relationships.

“We educate our boys holistically in spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional, physical, cultural and social dimensions of life.”

St Laurence’s College is a Catholic school for boys located in South Brisbane and has been operating since 1915. There are over 1,950 boys currently enrolled from Years 5-12, drawing from a wide area of Brisbane.

Operated in the Edmund Rice Tradition, the College is passionate about achieving its mission to graduate ‘Lauries Gentlemen’ – respectful young men of strong moral values who are motivated to achieve personal excellence and contribute to society through service to others. This is underpinned by the College’s strong vertical Pastoral Care system and exceptional mentoring and tracking program.

St Laurence’s College is a dynamic educational community that provides opportunities for boys to unlock their potential – both in and out of the classroom. Students are encouraged to pursue a balanced education, which engages at the level of their learning readiness and also challenges them to pursue excellence, as they act with integrity and justice.
