The Preshil approach to schooling does not use the fear of failure or the threat of punishment to motivate children. We do not demand conformity or unthinking obedience to arbitrary rules. The rapport with students is respectful and focused on achieving outstanding learning outcomes, trust and a genuine regard for the individual. At our core remains an unshakeable commitment to encouraging all children to progress at their own pace towards their own goals and to be respected as individuals in their own right. A commitment to children to be nurtured and challenged in an atmosphere that inspires creativity and independent thinking in all areas of life and does not, overtly or subtly, use competition or punishment to motivate through the fear of failure.

The Arlington (Kindergarten and Primary) Campus is set in the rambling gardens of the original Lyttle home. From the earliest years, children are encouraged to develop higher order thinking through inquiry-based, interdisciplinary learning with focus on Philosophy, play, building, problem-solving and exercising choice. Kindness, respect and courage are key, underpinning a rich programme which nurtures and delights young minds. Specialist French, Music, Physical Development and Art are equal partners in a curriculum combining meticulous teacher planning with individual and collaborative projects whilst challenging academically.

The Preshil Secondary School (Blackhall Kalimna) offers the IB Middle Years Programme for students in Years 7-10, an intellectually vibrant curriculum and the perfect preparation for all our students to progress to the Diploma Programme in their final two years of school. Preshil supports an outstanding programme of Arts, Language, Drama, Film and Music, with multi-age Electives focusing on extending students’ interests, building career knowledge, and innovative STEAM choices.

The IB programmes perfectly align with Preshil’s focus on intellectual challenge, inquiry and research-based learning. The school continues to produce graduates who have developed the “courage to question”, to find their own voice and to become responsible and active global citizens.

Preshil is an authorised World School for the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme (Years 7-10) and Diploma Programme (Years 11 and 12). The school also holds candidacy for authorisation to teach the IB Primary Years Programme (ELC – Year 6. In addition to the rich curriculum afforded by the IB, there is also a focus at school on philosophy, STEAM and multi-age electives.

Our Arlington Kindergarten and Primary campus features unique, child-centred learning spaces nestled among beautiful gardens. The respectful relationships between teachers and their students is respectful and focused on outstanding outcomes for our students. The curriculum features Philosophy, Languages, Arts and Electives.

The Secondary School (Blackhall Kalimna) thrives on the engaging and meaningful relationships formed between all staff and students. With the International Baccalaureate providing the framework for the curriculum from Years 7-12, students are challenged and nurtured through both the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes in an environment that celebrates inclusion, innovation and creativity.
