As a non-zoned Catholic boys school; De La Salle College welcomes students from all over the Melbourne metropolitan area. Without the restrictions of designated priority parishes, we give priority to all Catholic Primary Schools. Proud of our academically non-selective, open enrolment policy we provide a contemporary learning community that encourages and expects personal excellence.
We operate on a culture of achievement and challenge, where each student is known, and encouraged and supported to achieve his full potential. A variety of pathways and opportunities to specialise in areas of interest and expertise is a feature of our students’ experience.
Established in 1912, De La Salle has a rich history. From our first class of 54 students in a parish hall to now educating over 1,100 students across three campuses, our emphasis remains on developing the existing traditions and strengths of our past.
As a Lasallian College, we practise the five Core Principles of a Lasallian education, as developed by St John Baptist de La Salle: respect for all people, quality education, inclusive community, concern for the poor and social justice and faith in the presence of God. In keeping with our Lasallian ethos, students are expected to contribute to the community through volunteer and fundraising work for local and international communities. Through these opportunities students develop leadership skills, including, innovation, initiative and selflessness, along with a strong sense of compassion.
We are very proud of our 106 year-old tradition of developing young men of character and empathy, dedicated to their school, their studies and each other.
Our dynamic curriculum, extensive co-curricular program and overarching culture of challenge and achievement, faith and service develops our students to become capable, well-rounded and respectful young men.
Our dynamic curriculum ensures students are challenged academically and have a choice of specialised learning pathways. Students study a core curriculum from primary through to Year 8. At Year 9 a creative program is delivered on a dedicated campus where students lead their own learning through collaboration and inquiry. Year 10 students choose from over 45 subjects allowing for specialisation of study and personalisation. Year 11 and 12 students can choose the VCE, VET or VCAL pathway that suits them.
As an open-entry school we understand every student learns differently, and offer extension programs, education support and services to enable all students to reach their full potential.
