Dr Toni Meath has officially commenced her new role as the 12th Principal of Melbourne Girls Grammar.
An educator of exceptional standing, the school describes Dr Meath as a true leader
Melbourne Girls Grammar revealed it was excited by the balance of innovative thinking and pragmatic principles she brings from a stellar career as a wise and compassionate champion of girls’ education in Australia.
Dr Meath is renowned for fostering student voice and inspiring teachers to meet their full potential. Her leadership in these areas is evident through her track record of her staff being selected for leadership positions across Australia. Her students across many generations and colleagues hold her in the highest esteem.
Her educational leadership has been recognised both nationally and internationally – most recently at the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools in Washington.
Dr Meath is a National Fellow of the Australian Council of Educational Leaders (ACEL), a member of the Board of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), and a Director of the Alliance of Girls’ Schools Australasia.
Most recently, Dr Meath was Principal of MacRobertson Girls’ High School for six years. Prior to this she was Assistant Principal and co-creator of Nossal High School, Victoria’s first co-educational select entry high school.
Dr Meath’s passion for developing the whole individual shines through in her personal warmth, wisdom and compassion. She believes that enriching students with the ability to think critically and creatively is paramount to ensure they are prepared for an unknown future. S
Dr Meath is focussed on fostering excellence and celebrating diversity. This has been evidenced in her development of Indigenous programs, and encouragement across the full spectrum of opportunities including sports, music and drama.
