Somerville House Year 11 student Charlotte Solomon has been selected for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the spirit of the ANZACs as a winner of the Premier’s ANZAC Prize 2017 tour.

Selected for her thoughtful documentary about the spirit of the ANZACs, Charlotte will be joining a small group of Queensland high school students to travel to Gallipoli and the Western Front in April 2017, attending the Dawn Service at Anzac Cove.

Charlotte’s documentary links the spirit demonstrated by all Australians in World War I to the sacrifices of the men and women who serve in the contemporary Australian military and examples of mateship and selflessness on the part of ordinary Australians.

Charlotte illustrates how the ANZAC ideal provides a “clear conduit between the past and the present” and a legacy for all Australians “past, present and future”.
