Sheldon College Open Morning

Sheldon College in Queensland will host an Open Morning on Friday 31 August from 8.30am to 11am, where the community will have the opportunity to meet and greet students and staff, and explore educational pathways for their child.

Since opening its doors in 1997, Sheldon College has continued to transform the lives of its students. An independent, co-educational and non-denominational School, Sheldon College educates students from 15 months of age through to Year 12.

At the Open Morning, those in attendance will have the opportunity to join the College Assembly, which will feature a variety of music and entertainment.

Guests are then invited to gather in the Sheldon Event Centre for a welcome address by Sheldon College Principal and CEO Dr Lyn Bishop (OAM), before taking part in a tour of the campus, which is located on 56 acres in a semi-rural setting on Taylor Road, Sheldon.

Dr Bishop warmly invites the community to discover Sheldon College’s world-class sporting venues, and state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, which include a new Artscapes Mixed Reality and Visual Art facility and a multi-purpose Sheldon Event Centre among other highlights.

“We see education as a partnership between the home and the school and we believe fundamentally that what the homes are, the schools will be, and what the two are the future will be – so come and experience Sheldon College for yourself,” said Dr Bishop.

“School is going to assume a vital role in shaping your child’s future in so many ways, so the only way to do it is to visit and ask lots of questions. Find out what is being taught and how it is being taught. Find out more about the teachers here and how qualified they are.”Dr Bishop said the College is excited to showcase its ethos of ‘Love, Laughter and Learning’ in practice to visitors on the day by offering them an authentic learning experience.

“The significance of attending this Open Morning during a school day is to enjoy an up-close and personal encounter of students and teachers interacting behind-the-scenes while classes are in action. Sheldon College will unveil our talented Early Learning, Junior, Middle and Senior College learners at their best,” she said.

“Visitors can catch a glimpse into the world of our talented students who will be engaged in educational activities and families can observe the high standard of staff and students in the areas of dress and appearance, behaviour and work habits.”
