Melbourne Girls Grammar

Melbourne Girls Grammar (MGGS) is a place where challenge and choice create opportunities for every girl to discover who she is meant to be. We have an outstanding history of providing girls with an exceptional education that equips them to thrive and lead in many life contexts. We aim to produce an enterprising mindset within our girls so that they have the curiosity, confidence, skills and experience to excel in life beyond school.

Our values provide the foundation for student service and leadership, and the world-class Learning Programs (Early Learning; Junior Years: Prep – Year 4; Middle Years: Years 5 – 8; Senior Years: Years 9 – 12) are specifically created to respond to the unique needs of contemporary girls.

In 2017, we will launch a contemporary experience of learning for our Senior girls that wraps exceptional wellbeing provisions around a robust and extensive academic program. Underpinned by research on current and future contexts in which our girls will need to be able to flourish as adults, our students will have well crafted experiences that develop their independence and repertoire of skills to adapt and succeed in tertiary, work and personal contexts. Our students will emerge from school confident in their own interests, their preferred learning styles, and their capacity to manage themselves emotionally.

Wellbeing is central to our school experience as we believe an exceptional education for life not only develops academic skills and attributes, but emotional and physical wellbeing as well. With an established wellbeing team for every year level, we focus on the holistic importance of the social, emotional, physical and academic wellbeing of our girls as we understand that when our girls feel well and in control of the many aspects of their lives, they confront obstacles and challenges with confidence and a belief in their capacity to solve problems.

Enhancing an MGGS education are the diverse opportunities offered in the classroom and beyond. The depth of co-curricular programs offered in every Learning Program ensures that every girl explores and develops her areas of interest and passion to maximise her learning. Of specific note are our many coding, engineering and design clubs and workshops underpinning our commitment to quality STEM experiences for girls.
