John Paul College’s resident koala was on hand to welcome back staff and students for the first day of term four for 2018.
Kel the Koala – who is named after the teacher who filmed the School’s furry friend, Mr Kelly Shepard – paid a visit to the main administration office before finding lodgings for the night.
Kel has been spotted regularly at Queensland’s John Paul College in recent months, nestled in trees around the campus.
Principal, Mrs Karen Spiller, said the campus had traditionally been a haven for koalas and other wildlife.
“Our resident koala obviously feels very much at home on our campus, safe from dogs and traffic,” she said. “Our past students fondly remember koalas being part of their learning environment and we’re delighted that our beautiful bushland setting is still attracting koalas today.”
